Our Commitment to Publishing the Schnabel Family’s Timeless Recordings
The Schnabel family’s discography represents a rich and diverse collection that underscores their profound influence on classical music. It includes recordings featuring renowned musicians interpreting Artur Schnabel’s compositions as well as performances of classical masterpieces by various members of the Schnabel family, showcasing their unique styles and lasting musical legacy.
The Schnabel Music Foundation, in collaboration with TownHall Records, has released historic recordings by Karl Ulrich and Helen Schnabel. Artur Schnabel’s classic recordings remain widely available, so the Foundation has chosen not to reissue them, except for the unpublished 1939 live recording (TownHall Records THCD-74). All CDs have been carefully digitized and remastered from well-preserved vinyl and analog tapes.
The most complete discography of recordings played by Artur Schnabel, beginning with the very early piano rolls, has been assembled by David Bloesch. It also covers many remastered issues of 78 RPM disks issued as LPs and CDs. The Schnabel Music Foundation is very grateful for the permission to reproduce this discography here.
